Why use PDF Karigar to password protect PDFs?

Lock sensitive PDFs with a password using strong AES-256 encryption. Optionally block printing or copying, while the text stays intact for anyone with the password.

  • Private by design. Files are processed on your own device. Nothing is uploaded, stored or shared.
  • Free, with no catch. No sign-up, no watermarks and no daily limits.
  • Works everywhere. Runs in any modern browser on Windows, Mac, Linux, Android and iPhone.

Choosing a password that actually protects

AES-256 encryption is only as strong as the password you choose. A short or common password can be guessed by software, while a long one is effectively impossible to break.

  • Use at least 12 characters. Three or four unrelated words are easy to remember and hard to guess.
  • Don’t send the password in the same email as the file. Share it by phone, SMS or a different app.
  • Keep the password somewhere safe. If it’s lost, nobody, including us, can open the file.
  • Printing and copying restrictions are respected by most PDF readers but aren’t a security guarantee. The open password is what keeps the content private.

Typical uses: salary slips, bank statements, medical reports and ID copies sent by email.

Protect PDF: frequently asked questions

How secure is the encryption?

Files are encrypted with AES-256, the strongest standard PDF encryption.

What if I forget the password?

It can’t be recovered — not even by us, because we never see it. Keep a copy somewhere safe.

Is my password sent anywhere?

No. Encryption happens on your device; the password never leaves your browser.
