Why use PDF Karigar to compress PDFs?
Make PDFs small enough for email, WhatsApp and upload portals. Pick a compression level, or type a target size and get the best quality that fits.
- Private by design. Files are processed on your own device. Nothing is uploaded, stored or shared.
- Free, with no catch. No sign-up, no watermarks and no daily limits.
- Works everywhere. Runs in any modern browser on Windows, Mac, Linux, Android and iPhone.
Getting a PDF under an upload limit
Many online forms reject files above a fixed size. Job portals, university admissions, visa and embassy appointment systems and government services often cap uploads at 100 KB, 200 KB, 500 KB or 1 MB. Tap the size you’ve been given and PDF Karigar steps down through quality settings until the file fits, so you keep as much clarity as the limit allows.
Tips for scanned documents
- Grayscale pages compress far smaller than colour. If colour doesn’t matter, run the file through Grayscale PDF first.
- Crop away table edges and empty margins with Crop PDF. Less image area means fewer bytes.
- If a long document still won’t fit, check whether the portal accepts several files and use Split PDF.
- Compression is one-way. Upload the smaller copy, but keep the full-quality original for your records.
If a file barely shrinks, it’s probably mostly text already. Text-only PDFs are compact; the big savings come from photos and scans.
Compress PDF: frequently asked questions
How do I compress a PDF to 100 KB or 200 KB?
Tap the 100 KB or 200 KB button, or type any size and choose KB or MB. PDF Karigar tries quality settings from best to lowest and keeps the best one that fits under your limit, which is what most job, exam and visa portals ask for.
Will compression make text blurry?
No. Only the photos inside the PDF are recompressed. Text, tables and logos stay sharp and selectable.
Why didn’t my PDF get much smaller?
PDFs that are mostly text are already compact. Big savings come from files with photos or scanned pages.
